Vikings Play For Pride

Out of the playoffs, this game will perhaps mean more to Mike Tice than anyone else as his job as head coach could be on the line. Tice is out of contract on Jan. 31 and owner Zygi Wilf could decide on a coaching move as early as Monday.

Tice and Wilf are said to have a good working relationship, so ulitmately that could still save Tice.

The season has been a roller coaster ride of disappointment, embarrassment and success, which saw the Vikings start 2-5, go through the "Love Boat" cruise affair, but then come back with a six-game winning streak.

If the Vikings beat the Bears, it would give them a 9-7 record for the season - one game improvement on last season when they finished 8-8. They would also be 5-1 in the NFC North and 6-2 at home. These are hard facts. What isn't so certain is if victory will help Tice return as coach next season.

Our football betting spreads have Minnesota at -4 for the Bears game.

Vikings Edge Packers at Lambeau

Paul Edinger kicked a last gasp field goal as time expired to give the Minnesota Vikings a 20-17 win the Packers on Monday at Lambeau Field.

Mewelde Moore ran for over 120 yards on 22 carries, Devonte Edwards had a 50 yard interception run-back for a score and Brad Johnson, completed 18-of-30 passes for just under 200 yards for Minnesota (5-5), who have won three straight and whose season finally seems to be coming together. They have won three in a row and will host the Cleveland Browns next Sunday.

Brett Favre threw for 227 yards - with a pair of touchdown passes - but he was also intercepted twice, which contibuted to their loss of four of their last five games. Donald Driver caught both of Brett Favre's touchdown throws and ended with 84 yards on five receptions.

Green Bay, now 2-8, have now lost three in a row to the Vikings. Green Bay match up against Philadelphia next weekend.

Vikings' Discipline Earns Win

Mike Tice credited his team with good mental discipline as the reason the Vikings were able to cruise to a 27-14 victory against the Detroit Lions on Sunday. The Vikings had only three flags thrown against them and the offense was not called for any fouls.

Prior to this, the Vikings had been giving up penalties all season. They were called for ten infractions in their 38-13 loss to the Panthers a week earlier. The defense also showed big improvement.

"I take solace in the fact that we didn't make as many mental errors, our low number of mental errors on defense for the season," he said. "We've all said on paper we have some talent. But on paper doesn't win any games, you have to play on the field. When you come out and the coaches say in the staff meeting it was the low number of mental errors for the season, then you had a good week."
