Houston Texans left tackle Charles Spencer broke his leg (tibia) on Sunday and looks likely to miss the rest of the season.

The injury happened in the 43-24 loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

Spencer is a promising young player and will now have a watching brief for the rest of the season.

The big man (6ft 4in, 340lb) Spencer left Indianapolis' Dwight Freeney without a sack in Sunday's game.

Marcus Coleman is expected to get back to practice on today, but whether he still has his old job back has yet to be confirmed. With four games remaining, Coleman finds himself trying to keep his job after breaching team rules and being left at home (Houston) for Sunday's game in Baltimore.

Coleman missed the Saturday morning walkthrough and coach Capers told him to stay home. Rookie C.C. Brown made his first start at free safety and impressed his with a solid performance. His one mistake, however, was costly. With the Texans in the midst of a blitz, Brown was left one on one with wide receiver Mark Clayton and didn't close him down. Clayton made a big catch on the crossing route to set up the Ravens field goal - which proved to be the game winner.

Nevertheless the coach was full of praise for Brown.

Brown was a 6th round pick out of Louisiana / Lafayette, he was strong safety for a while before he lost the job to Glenn Earl. Since then he has been on special teams mostly, with repetitions at free safety.

Coleman is having his worst season with Houston, without him, the Texans played their best game defensively.

The Houston Texans understand that everyone outside of their team has written them off for their next game. They would have to pull off a remarkable upset against the Indianapolis Colts this Sunday.

The Texans, however, have every intention of trying to raise themselves in the second half of the season and they'll begin with trying to look respectable on Sunday against the unbeaten Colts. Pride can have a big effect on a team.

Let's remember that when the two teams met a few weeks ago - the score was tied at halftime.

"Let's go up there and do the first half twice and we'll be all right," quarterback David Carr stated. "It sounds simple, but the plan we used in the first half was that we ran the ball really well and threw it when we had to. But that's how you beat those guys. Obviously no one's done it this year. We've had a shot at it, haven't done it."

The second half was a different story. Carr hardly threw the ball, completing just six of nine passes in the entire game. Davis finished the game with 98 yards on 28 carries.

"We're going to have to go play our most efficient game," coach Dom Capers said. "When we played them three weeks ago, the first half gives you an idea of how you have to play them. And you can't play them the way we played them in the second half or you're not going to be in the football game."

The Texans been better the past two weeks. They beat the Browns and then lost to the Jaguars in a game that easily could have gone their way in the final two minutes. True they have a great record against Jacksonville and the win against Cleveland, another struggling team, will not have surprised many - but the team's confidence has risen as a result and often that is the key factor in upsetting a team that on paper has already beaten you in every department.
