It remains to be seen if the Pro Bowler can get out of the coach's bad books and get back on to the field - for what remains of the season.

Adams has been plagued by injury issues and has been poor for the last month. He was benched in the second half in the loss at New England, was dropped from a home game against the Chiefs, then sprained an ankle against the Chargers and was forced to leave the game.

Although he practiced all last week and told Mularkey he was good to play against the Panthers, Mularkey shut him out and said he was going with younger players. Adams was put on the game's inactive list. That was it for Adams.

Adams left the stadium. After the Bills lost 13-9, struggling to stop the run yet again, Mularkey had little to say about Adams other than he was scratched for medical reasons. But Adams' agent claimed that the reason his client didn't play against Carolina was personal, not medical.

"This guy doesn't like Sam Adams, and that's fine," Angelo Wright told the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle. "You don't have to like him to play him. Sam wants to play. He likes Buffalo. But you got a coach there who doesn't like him personally, and he's doing everything he can to make it look like it's the player."

In truth Adams has never been known as being committed to practice, but does deliver on game day - this lack of performance in practice coupled with nagging injuries could be the basis for Mularkey's decision.

If you are football betting on Buffalo's next game against Miami - the Bills are getting +4 points on the spreads.

Losman Improves For Bills

Mularkey has a harder choice now when he chooses his starting quarterback for Sunday when the Bills travel to San Diego looking for their first road win against the Chargers. J.P. Losman came off the bench against Kansas in the last game when Kelly Holcomb took a hit, and threw two touchdowns to rally the Bills to a 14-3 victory. Losman flopped during Buffalo's poor start and was then passed over in favor of Holcomb.

Mularkey said he that he would to monitor Holcomb's health through Tuesday and study more tapes of San Diego with his coaches before making the QB decision. If Holcomb is healthy and the coaches conclude Losman can't handle the things San Diego does defensively, Holcomb may get the nod. But if practice is limited for Holcomb - it could be Losman.

"We have to wait and see how Holcomb progresses each day, but how many reps he gets will have an impact on that decision, no question," Mularkey said.

While Losman's completion percentage was just 47.9 in the four games he started, Losman made nine of sixteen passes (56%) against the Chiefs, connecting with wide receiver Lee Evans on a pair of perfect touchdowns. Buffalo entered the game with only 7 pass plays of twenty yards or more for this season, but Losman ended up with four on the day.

Bills QB Position Open

The Buffalo Bills are at 3-5 and could easily miss the playoffs for the sixth seasoncon in a row. They are spending their bye week reviewing all positions - including quarterback. It's unlikely, however, that the job would be handed back to J.P. Losman.

The Bills are 2-2 with Holcomb, who has thrown for 790 yards, has a team-record of 67.8 percent for passes completed, six touchdowns and three interceptions. His 92.0 rating ranks eighth in the NFL.

Buffalo stood at 1-3 under Losman, who did not manage any kind of consistency, connecting with 48 percent of his passes, for 433 yards, with two touch downs, one interception and a 55.9 rating - close to the bottom of the rankings at the time.

Still, Mularkey has left things open for when Buffalo hosts the Kansas City Chiefs on Nov. 13 at Ralph Wilson Stadium.

"It's really about what gives us our best chance to win?" Mularkey said. "That's why we did what we did before with the switch to Kelly, the same thing goes."

Buffalo - Schedule From Hell

Lawyer Milloy knows what lies ahead for the Buffalo Bills.

"This is the beginning of hell as far as our schedule is concerned," Milloy said.

Even after their 38-17 loss at Oakland Raiders last week, the Bills can still take over first place in the AFC East Division if they can upset the New England Patriots (3-3) on Sunday night at Gillette Stadium.

Even if the Bills get to first place, the real challenge will be hanging onto it.

After the Patriots, Buffalo meets Kansas City Chiefs (4-2), San Diego Chargers (3-4), Carolina Panthers (4-2), New England Patriots again, Denver Broncos (5-2) and Cincinnati Bengals (5-2), along games at Miami and the New York Jets.

Bet on all these games at Betfile Sports Betting
