Vikings Edge Packers at Lambeau

Paul Edinger kicked a last gasp field goal as time expired to give the Minnesota Vikings a 20-17 win the Packers on Monday at Lambeau Field.

Mewelde Moore ran for over 120 yards on 22 carries, Devonte Edwards had a 50 yard interception run-back for a score and Brad Johnson, completed 18-of-30 passes for just under 200 yards for Minnesota (5-5), who have won three straight and whose season finally seems to be coming together. They have won three in a row and will host the Cleveland Browns next Sunday.

Brett Favre threw for 227 yards - with a pair of touchdown passes - but he was also intercepted twice, which contibuted to their loss of four of their last five games. Donald Driver caught both of Brett Favre's touchdown throws and ended with 84 yards on five receptions.

Green Bay, now 2-8, have now lost three in a row to the Vikings. Green Bay match up against Philadelphia next weekend.

Vikings' Discipline Earns Win

Mike Tice credited his team with good mental discipline as the reason the Vikings were able to cruise to a 27-14 victory against the Detroit Lions on Sunday. The Vikings had only three flags thrown against them and the offense was not called for any fouls.

Prior to this, the Vikings had been giving up penalties all season. They were called for ten infractions in their 38-13 loss to the Panthers a week earlier. The defense also showed big improvement.

"I take solace in the fact that we didn't make as many mental errors, our low number of mental errors on defense for the season," he said. "We've all said on paper we have some talent. But on paper doesn't win any games, you have to play on the field. When you come out and the coaches say in the staff meeting it was the low number of mental errors for the season, then you had a good week."

Vikings Party Not Deserved

Daunte Culpepper's season is over and he will undergo surgery in the next few weeks and then start lengthy rehabilitation. He may not even be back for the start of the 2006 season.

The injury is the latest bad news for a franchise that has had just about everything go wrong on and off the field this season;

They were touted as being almost certain play-off contenders by some in the pre-season. They could well miss out altogether now, they stand 2-5 after Sunday's 38-13 loss to Carolina.

Apart from the sub standard play, the organization continues to wait to see if any charges will be filed against players in relation to an alleged sex party that took place on a cruise this month.

Decadent behaviour has occurred before with NFL teams - it goes with the territory to a degree - but is usually reserved for the star teams. The Vikings players would do well to remember that they are a pitiful 2-5...hardly cause for celebration or a reason to risk heaping more misery and embarrassment on the people that employ them.
