Dallas Cowboys 5-3 Into Bye
Marion Barber (rookie) rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns in his first start, and the Cowboys played one of their best games of the season. They scored in a lot of different ways, didn't give up any penalties and ended up beating the Cardinals 34-13 on Sunday.
The Cowboys stayed on pace in the tight NFC East. They can also take this good performance into their bye week, after which they have to play three games in eleven days.
"We would have hated going into the bye at 4-4," Greg Ellis (Cowboys) said. "It's a big swing for us, even though it's only one game."
The Cowboys were relieved that they didn't have a close call in the final few minutes. Except for a 33-10 victory over the Eagles (the team they play next on Nov. 14) every other Dallas game was determined in the closing minutes. Dallas lost 13-10 at Seattle last week after the Seahawks scored ten points in the final fifty-seconds of the game. The week before that the visiting New York Giants tied the game in the final minute - the Cowboys won it in overtime.
