Vikings' Discipline Earns Win
Mike Tice credited his team with good mental discipline as the reason the Vikings were able to cruise to a 27-14 victory against the Detroit Lions on Sunday. The Vikings had only three flags thrown against them and the offense was not called for any fouls.
Prior to this, the Vikings had been giving up penalties all season. They were called for ten infractions in their 38-13 loss to the Panthers a week earlier. The defense also showed big improvement.
"I take solace in the fact that we didn't make as many mental errors, our low number of mental errors on defense for the season," he said. "We've all said on paper we have some talent. But on paper doesn't win any games, you have to play on the field. When you come out and the coaches say in the staff meeting it was the low number of mental errors for the season, then you had a good week."
